Camelot Dairy Farm - Where magic Happens!

Camelot  Dairy Farm and Blumoon  Holsteins

Where does the name come from and what does it mean;

Blumoon

For me  I'm all about being and doing things different in a special way, and I'm old fashioned in the sense of honesty, keeping my word and doing whats right.

A "blue moon" is a rare event, as in the expression "once in a blue moon" -   an extraordinary event!

The first name that came was Blumoon Holsteins  - created 200?    This was a name I created as a late teenager,  I wanted to have my own stud, to breed my own special cows, Cows that came from my parents stud - Triann - this added special meaning for our family -  Tri -  means three -  I am one of three girls/children  and Ann comes from my mum -  Annette- my mum has always been the cow person she taught me a lot of what I know -  stock skills, care, compassion and love for animals.

Blumoon means something special, magical and rare -  not your usual every day.  I want always wanted to breed/create something unique. In the Holsteins friesian and brown Swiss this means breeding cows that have high production, high protein, good udders, with sound confirmation.

 I also want them to have a personality,  Having cows that love to have a scratch, pat or a hug or give you a lick, this can absolutely make my day,  If I'm having a bad day, they can brighten it and make you laugh and smile.

I love and care about them! I believe If I treat them right and look after them, that they will do the same back to me.
There are bred to be elite athletes for their breed, so they have to be treated like that -  extra special.

Camelot

We purchased the farm in April 2011, it was a greenfield site. The farm didn't have a name, and so I started thinking lots of different ideas, but nothing that
felt right /gut in-sting  / intuition.

Then I thought of Camelot -  For me this was my farm - My Kingdom - my magical place,  a place where magic, legends and where the extraordinary could be done!

Camelot is a known castle and kingdom associated with the legendary King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. Was Arthur a true, historical figure or only a hero of legend? This is truly up to each and every one of us to decide for ourselves.

For me Arthur represents a man who was the epitome of good against evil, light against darkness, and that eternal, never-ending struggle between what is right and that which is wrong.

 Everything I do, I always ask myself, what is the right thing? the answer comes from intuition, knowledge, my heart, gut feelings, values, asking others for help or advice. Everything I have learned and been through guide me to do what I believe is right, I don't always get it right but I do learn and this makes me a better person and farmer every day!
